Kansas Republican strength hasn’t disappeared, but there have been warning flashes for the GOP. In 2022, Kris Kobach, a conservative firebrand known as much for his tough stance on immigration and elections as his ability to attract controversy, squeaked by Democrat Chris Mann with just 50.8% of the vote. Mann, with his experience as a prosecutor and police officer, played surprisingly well even in Republican-friendly areas.
